THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT OUR PROGRAM:
- All FM Sports teams will be coached by past college and professional players who are also current high school-level coaches. (Meet your coach at the tryout.) Our coaches have over 80 years of combined experience.
- No coach will have a child on the team they are coaching.
- 2012 program cost was $1,500 plus volunteer efforts at our annual auction. (Limited scholarship opportunities are available.)
- Cost includes winter workouts at the FM Sports training facility in Redmond, uniforms, equipment bag, hat, tournament and league fees (for umpires plus practice and game field usage).
History of FM Sports
The FM Sports Program was established since 1997 in Sandy Koufax League as the Kirkland Heat. The Heat had great success including 9 straight Koufax State Tournament appearances.
The program expanded into the Mickey Mantle division and continued to be a success with several Mickey Mantle State tournament appearances and a Continental Amateur Baseball Association Title.
The program expanded again into the 18U Division under the sponsorship of Lux homes. Several years and many championships later, the organization opened its own facility FM Sports
FM Sports – A member of the 18U Premier League and members of the Seattle Elite League at 15 & 16U level.
In 2012 we received an overwhelming demand to start a 13 and 14U program starting in the 2013 season
FM Sports mission is to provide quality baseball opportunities for boys ages 12-18 to follow the footsteps of the nearly 100 former players who have followed their dreams to the college and professional ranks.
Our Philosophy: Provide an environment where young men can develop as players, build character focus on dedication, team work and learn positive life lessons.
Our Staff includes a dynamic group of former college and professional players, who are proficient in the game, understand the age they work with and are committed to the responsibilities and character necessary to successfully mentor young men through coaching.
OUR COACHES
Frank Smith is a professional trainer for over 15 years, Frank has been with the program for five years and has four years as a varsity assistant. A standout from Oak Harbor HS, Frank played baseball at WSU before turning to coaching.
Jason Conover is former stand out at Lake Washington Hight School who went on to pitch at Bellevue College and Lewis and Clark State. Jason has 12 years coaching experience, the last seven with our 18 year old club, and is the program pitching coordinator.
Don Sparling is a two-time All State player from Juanita High School, Don went to Spokane Falls College prior to signing with the Kansas City Royals. He pitched 6 years for the Royals before turning to coaching. A varsity coach at Inglemoor High School, Don is in his 2nd year with FM Sports
Bryan McNaghten is the Founder of the organization. A former teammate of Coach Sparling, Bryan was a 3-sport stand out in high school and attended Spokane Falls College before turning to coaching. He has coached both football & baseball at the varsity level & is the Head Baseball coach at Inglemoor High School. His teams have two Crown Division titles and a State playoff appearance to their credit.
Dustin Biell is a FM Sports alumnus, Dustin was a two-time All League outfielder who he led KingCo in hitting. Drafted in the 5th round by the Devil Rays, Dustin played professionally for 4 years prior to joining the FM Sports staff. He is in his 2nd season.
Sam McNaghten is in his 3rd season with FM Sports. An alumnus of the program, Sam was an All League Catcher in High School and a 3-time league champion, a Regional champion and State semi-finalist in wrestling. He wrestled 3 years in college and coaches the Bishop Blanchet High School wrestling team where he coached the State Champion at 195 lbs division in 2012. He is also the head Junior Varsity baseball coach at Inglemoor High School
Logan Liddle is in his 3rd season with FM Sports and earned All League at Edmonds Woodway High School. He went onto to pitch at Santa Barbara College before coming back to the Seattle area and joining FM Sports in a Coaching capacity.
